Nintendo are positioned to release a fresh member to the ever expanding DS family ; the Nintendo DSi XL. The general agreement has been that this release is surplus to needs, but Nintendo were quick to assure fans that this console is not intended to nullify the current DSi, only to serve as a different selection.
As the title suggests, the Nintendo DSi XL is a larger helping of the DSi. The shell has been substituted for a chunky mould and the screens have been lengthened by almost a full inch to 4.2 inches. These larger screens are a great addition and push the Nintendo DSi XL nearer to the display mastery of the PSP. Titles look bigger and clearer than before and, a little pixelation aside, look much better for it.
Togetherwith the screen, the Nintendo DSi XL has built upon the speakers built into the bigger shell. Amongst the small grouses with the DSi is the audio was lacking in some areas, so increased speakers should sort out this problem. The Nintendo DSi XL also returns to the snappy gloss design of the first DS.
TheNintendo DSi XL is adifferent choice for those who like their videogaming a little larger. Many game players called for the DSi to be made smaller, sharper and less heavy to make the portability simpler. On this note, the DSi remains the better choice. The DSi XL is perhaps a wiser choice for those that play the DSi indoors or when still instead of travelling.
So it actually is a matter of choice. The Nintendo DSi XL offers a larger, chunkier videogaming experience but reduces the ease of travel related to earlier models. If this sounds like your kind of thing, then try it out. If not – don’t fear! The current DSi will be here for a long while yet!
